Thermal Disposal of Post-processing Water Derived from the Hydrothermal Carbonization Process of Sewage Sludge

Abstract Hydrothermal carbonization is a suitable method for sewage sludge management due to great improvements in its dewaterability and the successful application of solid product, hydrochar, different sectors. However, resulting liquid product requires special treatment amount undesirable compounds it contains. The main purpose this work study use distillation as post-processing purification. In addition, influence vacuum depth on properties products was investigated. A number chemical physical parameters were determined confirm validity method: TOC, COD, total nitrogen Kjeldahl content, ammonium phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, selected heavy metals content phenol index. Distillation under atmospheric pressure caused reductions following parameters: index, metals, chlorine by more than 90%: removal 95% COD 99.5% PO 4 -P, 93% Phenol, over 90% 97% free chlorine. case -0.3 bar pressure, obtained: 98% 99.9% 94% c.a. Decreasing − 0.5 did not producee any significant effects results similar pressure. Both methods, lower pressures, can be used an appropriate water utilization. Graphical
